Michael Schumacher’s Daughter Shares Emotional Truth Behind Ski Tragedy

More than a decade has passed since the horrifying ski accident of the seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher. His daughter, Gina Schumacher, opened up about her father in her upcoming documentary, ‘ Horsepower-The World of Gina Schumacher’.
Gina, for the first time, described the 2013 Meribel ski tragedy that left the seven-time world champion with a traumatic brain injury and withdrawal from the public eye. She went on to speak about how she used the horses to cope.
“After Dad’s accident, I really threw myself into [riding] because I had to do something. The horses have always been important. But since then, they’ve really been … I mean, I couldn’t do without horses. They helped me get through everything.”
She also recalled a memory connected with her mother, Corinna, to sport, saying, “She used to have a horse, and when we were younger, she wanted to start again. But she wanted a safe horse. Then she was in Dubai with Dad, and they rode Arabians. Dad fell off one. There was a Quarter Horse next to it, and he was there to calm the others down. And then Mum said she wanted a horse like that.”
Over the years, Gina has made a name for herself as an equestrian. She is a multi-world champion and has a double gold in individual and team events in 2025.
The new documentary, set to release on April 17, will explore both the professional achievements and personal journey of the story, according to The Sun.
The Schumacher family has remained very private about Michael’s condition over the years. While Netflix released a documentary titled Schumacher in 2021, it focused primarily on his legendary racing career rather than providing updates on his health.
During his time in Formula 1, Michael shattered numerous records and cemented his place as one of the greatest drivers in history.
Michael Schumacher is no longer ‘bed-bound.’
Nearly 12 years after the terrible ski accident in the French Alps, the Daily Mail UK reported a positive update on the seven-time world champion.
In a recent update, the newspaper disclosed that Michael can sit in a wheelchair and is being wheeled around his estates in Majorca and Geneva.
He is, however, still cared for by his wife, Corinna, and dedicated nurses and therapists around the clock.
The sources have further disclosed that Michael Schumacher understands the things going on around him.
In 2025, three of the Schumachers’ former employees were convicted after they tried to threaten the family to release pictures of the German driver in his current state.
