Marc Marquez Finally Has His First Win of the Season at 2026 Hungarian GP
After a long wait of nearly nine months, MotoGP fans finally got to see a Marc Marquez victory this season. With this, Marquez has become the third rider in MotoGP history to win 100 races, joining an elite club comprising Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi.
Starting from pole, the No.93 rider faced some wheelspin at launch and had to fend off Pedro Acosta for many laps. Acosta managed to pull away from Marquez on Lap 5, and kept pulling away until the factory Ducati rider somehow caught up and made multiple attempts to pass him.
The first attempt came on Lap 14, but Acosta responded by getting on the inside at Turn 11. The two also made contact at Turn 16, but neither rider fell.
Marquez then made a second attempt at Lap 15, which was successful. He then widened the gap by more than two seconds and eventually crossed the finish line with a gap of 1.3 seconds over the Red Bull KTM rider.
The victory holds even more importance, considering Marquez had doubts over his fitness, questioning if he would even be able to sustain his energy levels.

While Jack Miller’s Pramac was the only Yamaha to enter the Top 10, the factory rider Fabio Quartararo rode into the pits with four laps to go. While the reason is not known yet, the rider was also hit with long-lap penalties.
The frontrunning Aprilias crash in the beginning
Drama unfolded in the first few seconds of the race, with Jorge Martin losing control of his motorcycle. He collided into teammate Marco Bezzecchi and also ended up collecting Raul Fernandez, Fermin Aldegeuer, and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Out of the four, the day was effectively over for the three Aprilias, and only Ogura went on to score points for the team.
Following this incident, Martin was taken to the medical centre, and the incident is also being investigated by the officials.
While neither Bezzecchi nor Martin scored any points in this race, as they remain at the top of the table. However, Marc Marquez has climbed up the points table and now occupies the fourth position.
