“I’ve cheated death twice”: Jeremy Clarkson sends assuring message to fans amidst cancer scare
Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson recently broke the internet with his announcement of a prostate cancer diagnosis. Now, not only has he shared an update on his health, but he has also addressed the issue in detail.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, the 66-year-old presenter said he feels incredibly lucky to have escaped death. Along with the prostate cancer diagnosis in the season finale, he was also referencing the first episode of season five, in which he had to be rushed to the hospital after a suspected heart attack.
"I've cheated death twice. I am, without a doubt, officially, the world's luckiest man," Clarkson said in the interview.
In the same interaction, Clarkson also revealed that the tumor was treated successfully with a high-intensity focused ultrasound, as a result of which, he is now in remission.
He also took to social media to share an update on his health. In a short clip, he was seen assuring the audience that he is perfectly healthy and also urged men specifically to get checked, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms.
Furthermore, Prime Video and Clarkson have both officially announced that season six of Clarkson’s Farm is underway.
Jeremy Clarkson: “I can’t just disappear from the show”
While the 66-year-old presenter has been treated successfully, he has admitted that the time after his diagnosis was not an easy one for him. He said that he wanted to be discreet about it and undergo treatment at a time when he was not needed.
He added that at one point, he even considered disappearing from the show. However, things got to a point where it became impossible to hide what was really going on. That’s when he decided to come clean.
“I was really hoping, truly, truly hoping that I could get last year’s harvest done, and then go for the operation, because then I wouldn’t need to tell anybody, which is the whole Clarkson mentality.
I had to wrestle with it for a long time in my head, thinking I can’t just disappear from the show, because everybody would say, ‘Well, where are you?’ So I decided I’m going to have to come clean, I’m going to have to break the Clarkson policy of being an illness bore and admit to it, and as a result, I’m now sitting down with you talking about it, which goes against the grain.”
Are you looking forward to season six?
