Hyundai Signals Fresh Ioniq Era With Dual Retro Hints

Hyundai is teasing a new era for its Ioniq electric vehicles. Two new concepts, named Earth and Venus, are set to debut in China on April 10. The new models signal a dramatic shift away from the brand's signature pixelated lighting design.
Hyundai’s China website also has a countdown scheduled for April 10, when these models will be revealed. However, the carmaker hasn’t clarified which badge belongs to which model.
The first concept has been teased from the rear, showing a sharp, radical design finished in gold, and what could possibly be a crossover. The second concept, shown from the front, features a similarly sharp design.
What’s common between both models is the slim lighting elements, which mark a clear departure from Hyundai’s current pixel lighting seen on the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 5 N, and the Ioniq 9.
Hyundai could also be developing an entirely new architecture to underpin the production versions of these two concept cars. We already know that the carmaker is working on new battery chemistries and solid-state batteries to reduce costs and make EVs more affordable.
These two concept cars will likely also be shown at the upcoming Auto China after their April 10 reveal.
Is One Of Them Going To Be The Ioniq 3?
The possibility of one of these concept cars being the Ioniq 3 is quite slim, as it will be produced in Turkey and is set for a world premiere later this year. The Ioniq 3 will share its underpinnings with the Kia EV3.
The Earth and Venus concepts appear to be China-specific, at least for now. That said, the concept shown from the rear bears some resemblance to the Concept Three revealed in 2025. Hyundai may be preparing an evolved version of that model with a tweaked design language.
Hyundai is set to reveal more details on April 10.
